ABOUT CHEMATHON

The Chemistry Department at KFUPM is pleased to invite undergraduate students around the world to participate in the 3rd edition of the CHEMATHON competition, taking place on November 11–12, 2025, at KFUPM.

CHEMATHON 2025 will be held in conjunction with the KFUPM Chemistry-ACS (Saudi Chapter) International Conference, offering participants a valuable platform to present their research and network with leading scientists from around the world.

Best Poster Awards

1,000 SAR for each of the next 7 top posters.

Special Recognition

The top 10 participants will be selected to compete again at the International Labtech Conference & Exhibition 2025 (17-19 November, 2025), where the top 3 will be awarded up to 17,000 SAR each.
All participants will receive certificates of recognition.
An excellent opportunity to present your research and connect with a global scientific community.

Eligibility Criteria

Current undergraduate students or recent graduates (Class of 2024 or later)
Research must be in a chemistry-related field (e.g., chemical sciences, biochemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, biology, etc.)
Submission must include a summary of original research (literature reviews will not be accepted)
Both completed research and preliminary results are eligible for submission

CHEMATHON Tracks

Analytical Chemistry

Focuses on identifying the composition of substances. Example: testing water quality or analyzing drug content.

Organic Chemistry

Studies carbon-based compounds. Example: developing pharmaceuticals or synthetic materials like plastics. Focuses on identifying the composition of substances.

Inorganic Chemistry

Deals with non-organic compounds, including metals and minerals. Example: creating catalysts for industrial processes.

Physical Chemistry

Explores how matter behaves on a molecular level and how chemical reactions occur. Example: studying reaction rates and energy changes.

Biochemistry

Combines biology and chemistry to study living organisms at a molecular level. Example: DNA analysis or enzyme research.

Environmental Chemistry

Focuses on the chemical processes in the environment. Example: tracking pollution or developing green technologies.

Industrial Chemistry

Applies chemistry in manufacturing and industry. Example: producing fertilizers, dyes, or cleaning products.

Nuclear Chemistry

Studies radioactive materials and nuclear processes. Example: nuclear energy or radiopharmaceuticals.

Medicinal Chemistry

Designs and synthesizes new drugs. Example: creating treatments for diseases.

Agricultural Chemistry

Involves the chemistry behind farming. Example: developing pesticides or improving soil nutrients.
